Yuksel Seeds presented its latest innovations in rugose virus-resistant tomatoes
(ToBRFV) at its stand 9E30 at Fruit Attraction. The new catalog, under the umbrella
"Sin Miedo al Rugoso," includes cherry, pear, vine, and ribbed tomato
varieties such as Tobchoco, Tobrossa, Tobías, Tomblack, and Umay.
The presentation was led by
Francisco Trujillo, Product Manager of Yuksel Seeds Spain, who emphasized that
"at Yuksel Seeds, we are committed to offering comprehensive solutions to
all links of the food chain. On the one hand, we address the growing demand in
the agricultural sector for more rustic and productive varieties with
increasingly complete resistance packages. On the other hand, today’s consumers
demand healthier foods that retain their organoleptic properties and, above
all, offer exceptional flavor.
The challenge lies in developing rustic and resistant
varieties capable of adapting to soil conditions and climate change without
losing key attributes such as color, flavor, aroma, and shape. And
this is where we focus at Yuksel Seeds—on meeting these needs by combining
innovation and quality to offer varieties that respond to market and
end-consumer demands,” Trujillo added.
Among the new varieties are the pink ribbed tomato
Tobrossa, the chocolate ribbed Tobchoco, the round tomato Tobías, the cherry
Umay, and Romy 406, as well as the cocktail-type black tomato Tomblack, known
for its black color.
Following his remarks, nutritionist and chef Marta
Verona, known for winning the TV program Masterchef 6, took the stage. In
addition to preparing three delicious and nutritious recipes, she highlighted
the nutritional values of tomatoes and how cooking methods and combinations can
enhance their nutritional value.
Attendees enjoyed a tomato ceviche made with Zitronina
and Chocolina cherries, orange pear tomatoes, and several ribbed tomato
varieties. The second recipe was a tomato tartare using Kafetin, Reymon
cucumber, and Kunzita tomato. Lastly, there was a Babaganoush toast
featuring Zuzana eggplant as the main ingredient.
