  • New tomato and red california pepper varieties: Infoagro 2025

The multinational company Yuksel Seeds presented its latest innovations in plant genetics at the Infoagro 2025 agricultural fair, held from May 21 to 23 in Aguadulce (Almería).

Among the highlights were new tomato varieties with resistance to Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV), and a red California-type pepper developed to meet the needs of Almerian growers.

In the tomato segment, Yuksel has added Estefano and Octavius to its catalog. Estefano is a cluster tomato variety adapted to greenhouse cultivation in autumn and spring cycles. Its round, firm, and deep red fruits offer excellent post-harvest shelf life and stand out for their uniformity and average weight. Its broad resistance package — including ToBRFV and TYLCV — provides greater protection against common diseases.

On the other hand, Octavius is a high-yielding plum tomato, ideal for regions with high temperatures thanks to its early fruit setting capability. It produces oval-shaped fruits, free from cracking and deformities, making it a solid choice for both export and the domestic market.

As for peppers, Yuksel has introduced 223-986, a red California-type pepper with high productivity and an attractive color. Recommended for transplanting between July and August, it stands out for its G–GG fruit size, versatility for both green and red harvest, and its resistance to powdery mildew and spotted wilt virus.

With a presence in more than 85 countries, Yuksel Seeds continues to strengthen its commitment to varieties that combine adaptability, resistance, and quality.
